Florida Medicaid

Low-cost or free health coverage for eligible low-income families and the elderly or disabled.

What Florida Medicaid provides

Florida Medicaid provides low-cost or free health coverage to eligible low-income families and to people who are elderly or disabled.

You can apply online through the ACCESS Florida application portal. If you currently receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you are automatically eligible and do not need to apply separately.

Eligibility and income limits

Florida has not expanded traditional Medicaid, which makes the income requirements strict. The general 2026 limits for single applicants include:

$1,171Monthly income limit for Regular Medicaid (MEDS-AD), with an asset limit of $5,000
$2,982Monthly income limit for Long-Term Care Medicaid (ICP), with an asset limit of $2,000

Applicants for Long-Term Care Medicaid must also meet a nursing facility level of care, and there is a 60-month look-back period for asset transfers.

Income over the limit?

A Qualified Income Trust (also known as a Miller Trust) can allow you to qualify for Medicaid long-term care benefits even if your monthly income exceeds the cap.

Covered services

Most Florida Medicaid recipients are enrolled in the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care (SMMC) program, which assigns you to a specific health plan. Covered benefits include:

  • Doctor and hospital visits
  • Prescription drugs
  • Dental and vision care
  • Nursing home and hospice care

Managing your benefits

If you are already enrolled, you can check your status, request plan changes or update your information online using the Florida Medicaid Member Portal.

Figures are the general 2026 limits for single applicants. Limits change, so please confirm the current figures before you apply.
